Children in Crisis London Marathon Runners

The London Marathon is considered the ultimate test of stamina and endurance with participants running a gruelling 26.2 miles.

We asked some of our past runners why they chose to run for Children in Crisis:

Laura and Katie, Aged 26

Laura Roth and Katie Pinnes have chosen to run the London Marathon this year for Children in Crisis in memory of Laura's older brother, Nick.

Four years ago, Nick died in a tragic accident whilst in Nicaragua.  Nick was passionate about helping children around the world.  Laura and Katie believe that Nick would have greatly supported the work of Children in Crisis and for this reason they aim to raise as much money in his memory as they can.  They have raised an incredible £5,503.01 on their Just-Giving page for Children in Crisis so far!

Mark, Aged 33

Mark Smith has run the London Marathon on behalf of Children in Crisis for the past five years (even when he was given a ballot place).  This is why he will always choose Children in Crisis:

"There was so much that stood out about the work of Children in Crisis.  Their desire to give as many children as possible, a start in life which they otherwise would not have.

The single most rewarding feeling with having raised the money that I have over the years is that many of the children benefiting are from some of the most deprived places on Earth.

I may make the 2009 London race my last marathon, at least for a few years – if only to set about even more barmy challenges, but whatever events I feel worthy enough to seek some sponsorship for, it will always be for Children In Crisis."

Children in Crisis would like to thank every member of our running team for all their hard work and dedication over the past few months.
