DRC School Building Appeal

There is a huge need for schools in the Democratic Republic of Congo.  During the five-year war which officially ended in 1998, schools were wantonly destroyed by armed forces whose tactic was to cause as much hurt and disruption to the civilian population as possible.  Desks, blackboards and school books were burnt for firewood and corrugated iron roofing removed from the schools to sell.

An estimated 4.6 million children have been deprived of their right to an education.  Many schools have been left in a state of disrepair and during the wet season, children are frequently sent home as classrooms flood.  Children in Crisis has been working tirelessly to build and repair schools but with your help we can do so much more.

Please help us by making a donation today which will go towards the cost of construction materials and equipment, such as bricks, building tools, wash basins, desks, chairs, pens and text books.

Caption: Many schools in the DRC (above left) remain in a state of extreme disrepair.  Mukeni (above right) has recently started attending a new school in Kigazura village built by Children in Crisis. This will enable her to receive an uninterrupted education and a good chance of becoming a nurse.

For thousands of children like Mukeni living in remote, rural areas, it will be their very first time attending school. Please give whatever you can to ensure these children can learn in a safe and secure environment.

Thank you.
