Education for the Community

In Afghanistan and DRC we support and deliver educational initiatives that meet the needs of children and young people who are unable to enroll in mainstream education, such as those living in remote or nomadic communities or those children who have to work. We run education centres outside of normal school hours and locations, providing vocational and literacy training to enhance the ability and opportunities for children and young people to earn a living.

Afghanistan

Children in Crisis is training teachers and social workers and setting up education centres in Kabul. We work with the displaced Kuchi community and raise awareness of the rights of children. So far over 10,000 children have benefited.

Democratic Republic of Congo

Children in Crisis is the only NGO in the remote high plateau region of DRC. In conjunction with our teacher training and school building programmes, we are supporting the production of plays which are performed in churches and other community spaces to promote the importance of girls attending school.
